Indie Premiere Fills Palace!

It was a Valentine's Day to remember as Breaking & Entering premiered at the historic Louisville Palace Theater to record breaking numbers. The sell out crowd of 2,619 was the largest movie audience the Palace has seen in at least the last 30 years, and Kentucky's single biggest independent movie premiere ever. The low-budget romantic comedy took in more than $18,500.00 for a single screening without advertising, and solely by word of mouth. This represents the largest single screening box office of any independent movie in the region.

Breaking and Entering

Audience survey indicates 9 out of 10 rated the movie "good" or "great", and an impressive 13% reported they wanted to see the movie again at its next theatrical screening.

The movie was shot on a High Definition Digital 24p format. In fact, the Palace premiere marks Breaking & Entering as one of only a handful of movies shot, edited and projected entirely in the High Definition Digital format.

Although not yet rated, the movie is equivalent in tone and humor to an episode of Friends or a very mild PG-13 rating. The witty romantic comedy contains no nudity, extremely mild profanity, but is comically flirtatious with a fair amount of sexual innuendo.

Written, produced and directed by Vin Morreale, based on his award-winning stage play of the same name, Breaking & Entering has come to be known as a Cinderella story of independent moviemaking. With little fanfare, the sparkling comedy was shot entirely on location in Louisville, Kentucky in less than three weeks. Despite five rain days, it was delivered on-time and on-budget, as a team of skilled professionals and emerging talents crafted one of the fastest and most cost-efficient feature-length movies ever shot in the Southeast.
VSM Productions' goal is to produce entertaining movies that highlight local talent, are accessible to mainstream audiences, and are profitable for investors, Although a few actors came from California, Georgia and Massachusetts, the vast majority of cast and crew members were locally based.

We have a winner for our Win A Role In Our Next Movie Contest. Congratulations to Aidita Bartulomei, who will receive a guaranteed speaking line in our next film project, as well as a special audition for an even larger role.

On behalf of VSM Productions, I wish to thank all of those who supported local movie making through the generous gifts of their time, efforts, meals, locations, props, prayers and financial support. I especially want to thank the Alix Adams Modeling Agency, Terry Wells and Dick Anderson for their gracious support and encouragement throughout this entire process.

Scan the "About the Film" page to see the cast and crew list for the movie. If you are a producer, I am sure you will want to hire these amazing, hard-working and dedicated people to ensure your next project becomes as much a success as ours.

VSM Productions is also proud to announce the selection of our next feature to be produced in Kentucky. Halfway Home, written by Debi Kalman Bailey & Vin Morreale, Jr., is a comedy that has already won two national film festival screenplay contests, and was mentioned in Variety and the Hollywood Reporter. VSM Productions will begin pre-production and investor solicitation in April, with full casting scheduled for June and principal photography scheduled to begin in September. All roles, except extras, will be paid. If you are not already on our actor's e-mail list, but wish to be notified of auditions or crew openings, please e-mail VSMProductions@aol.com.
